Clinical Supervision

During my internship and working experience, I encountered supervisors that were either not available, overworked, disengaged, or tapped out. I thought about the disservice to myself and my colleagues and how their leadership and supervision reflected in our growing insecurities as professionals and to a certain extent, the dysfunctional dynamics in the workplace. I later realized that the systems in which many social workers are employed are bureaucratic, complex, and demanding. Many organizations do not understand the needs of their employees, are unable to meet these needs, or have other factors involved. I needed support and so did many other social workers. So I got to work.

A colleague and I started a peer support group for social workers. We realized the need for community, support, advocacy, reform, and yes, mental health care for ourselves. When fellow social workers started to reaching out for additional support, I decided to launch my practice. I created a trauma-informed and inclusive supervision framework that has allowed my supervisees to excel in their craft. In addition, we expanded the support group in 2022 to also serve mental health professionals!

"Edith is an amazing clinician and qualified supervisor who provides expertise, knowledge, and support to her clients and supervisees. What sets Edith apart is not just her expertise, but also the genuine kindness and empathy she consistently demonstrates. Her ability to balance support with constructive feedback has been a cornerstone of my professional and personal development and I am so grateful to have received supervision from her! Highly recommend her if you are in need of a therapist or a clinical supervisor."

"I just wanted to say that supervision with you is so restorative! You have already helped me IMMENSELY in such little time as I navigate and adjust into the social work field. Coming to you for our individuals is like having my cup poured into. Thank you for bringing your heart and wisdom into this experience and reminding me of my own humanness. I value this experience tremendously and what it has been doing for me both professionally and personally. So thank you for what you do and what you bring to our supervision! Holding on to this gentle but profound reminder to "Let go and let God".

"Edith is an awesome and a well rounded therapist/ supervisor/mentor. I had the privilege and honor of having Edith as both a mentor and Supervisor. She helps you believe in yourself and your abilities. I would describe her as down to earth, open minded, funny and humble. So, as much as you will learn from her, she open and recognize there are things she can learn from you too. If you want a supervisor, that will take you to the next level look no further, Edith will definitely give you more than what bargain for - Not only will she provide safe non-judgmental environment for you to be yourself, she also provide resources and connections that will last a lifetime."

The field of mental health and social work are demanding, emotionally pouring, and complex and we can easily feel overwhelmed and unwell. That is why I have made it my goal to help social workers prevent experiencing burn out and build resilience. I facilitate a space where social workers can trust their intuition, foster their clinical wisdom, and integrate ethics. More importantly, I foster an environment where we embrace learning as an ongoing process without judgment or shame.

As students of life, we learn through challenges by having the right support, fostering strengths, and allowing our inner voice to guide us.
